How can local communities thrive or become more successful?

I believe that any useful approach should include: 1) growing the social vitality, empowerment, justice, equity, and trust within the community, 2) enhancing the livelihood of community members, and 3) improving local environmental and ecological conditions.

How were the case Studies selected?

The case studies were selected through a long process that included soliciting proposals from members of local, national and international organizations that I am a member or am affiliated. Each of these organization are committed to supporting healthy communities. An internal editorial team selected cases based upon the goal of providing a broad a diverse set of useful practical examples.

Who is the principal audience of the book?

This book is written for those who care about enhancing the healthy and vitality of their community. This can include citizens, local elected or appointed individuals, students, business owners, directors of non-profits, and leaders of others types of communities.
