About the Author
James S. Gruber, PhD, PE
Jim is the Director of the PhD Program in Environmental Studies at Antioch University New England. Jim is also a member of the IUCN Council for Environmental Economic and Social Policy, and a recent delegate to the UN Environmental Assembly in Nairobi, Kenya. Jim has consulted for governments and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in North America, Eastern Europe, South America, and Africa on environmental issues and local governance focusing on citizen engagement in developing and implementing policy and programs. His work over the past three decades as a consultant, town manager, and professor has had a strong focus on facilitating positive adaptive change. He is a Civil Engineer and holds graduate degrees from MIT, Harvard Kennedy School of Government, and University of Zagreb. He resides in Alstead, New Hampshire.
